Surely this should be the other way around? The socialist Germans being the upstart rebellious force, vs the established dominating empire i.e. the Allied forces of the USA, Great Britain and Russia. Evil is only a point of view.
@ Richarda I do believe you are 100% wrong. If you will recall, the Galactic Empire is in fact the upstart socialist government. The rebel alliance consisted of the remnants of the old democratic government. The parallels drawn from Nazi Germany to the Galactic Empire in Star Wars are actually quite sound. I would need citing, but I seem to remember George Lucas mentioning he modeled the Empire on the Axis Powers. One can even see the inspiration in the design of the Empire's uniforms. While I do agree with you that evil is a point of view, it is quite honestly retarded to try and compare the Third Reich to the "good" guys in Star Wars. You're attempt at being clever and/or witty have failed.
Not only that, the Nazis overthrew a democratic republic through democratic means - totally through the plan of one person : Adolf / Palpatine, who manipulated the system to make himself Chancellor
Once Chancellor, he used his influence to undermine democracy
As for Leia, she should be there. Women were very involved in WWII, though in different roles... Leia wasnt much of a pilot but she did know how to use a blaster
