El Grande: The Giant Scrapheap Fire-Breathing Robot Dragon

El Grande is one bad ass fire breathing dragon made from scrap metal, recycled wheelchairs, scuba diving gear valves, and loaded with a propane gas system that blasts fire all over the cheering crowd. Made for the UK based scrapheap challenge 2011.
The robot dragon was created by Dan Peppiatt and Paka with hopes that one day the robot will be a star in his/her very own theatrical show and awe audiences around the world.
“I refuse to believe things aren’t possible,” he says. “There is room in the world to make an 8-metre, 5-foot-wide dragon a misunderstood character. Robotics and androids always get a bad press in pop culture — they’re evil or want to take over the world. I want to stop that image of dragon robots being bad and show that they just want to play.” - Paka
